A letter from Peter E.

I spent the first decade of my career watching good records get handled badly.

Brilliant artists signed to labels that didn’t understand them. Masters held hostage. Royalty statements that no one could read. Deals written to be survived, not celebrated. I spent the second decade learning how to do it differently — from inside rooms most artists never see.

Prime6 Records is what I wish had existed for the artists I grew up with.

What we’re building

Six sides. Hexagonal. Stable. A label is supposed to be a structure that protects the music and the people making it. Every part of what we do — A&R, mixing, distribution, marketing, sync, touring — is a side of the same hexagon. Lose one, the whole thing wobbles.

We’re Toronto-based. We’re global in our thinking and our signings. We treat Canadian indie as a national asset, not an asterisk.
